Edward "Ed" J. Kohlegk, 92, of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025. Born on November 7, 1932, Ed was a lifelong Chicagoan who spent his career as a printer with the Chicago Sun-Times.
While raising his family in Stickney, IL, Ed's deep love and devotion to his late wife, Dorothy (Krieman), was well known to all who knew them. He affectionately called her "Gorgeous Grandma," an endearing title that continues to live on through generations.
A dedicated father, Ed worked tirelessly to provide for his four children. The family cherished summers spent together at their cottage by the lake in Antioch, IL, making memories that will last a lifetime. A devoted Chicago Bears fan, Ed could always be found on Sundays watching football with family close by.
Ed is now reunited with the love of his life, his beloved wife, Dorothy. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving father to Susan (Wayne) Popelka, Linda (late Neal) Shurden, Edward M. (Peggy) Kohlegk, and Cherie (Phillip) Mach; a cherished grandfather of nine; and a proud great-grandfather of eight. He was also the fond brother of the late Judy (late Ronald) Halfpenny, the late Faith (late Gregory) Terlecki, and Irene (late Timothy) Lepper.
Ed's warmth, humor, and love of family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private memorial service will be held for family.
