Edward Landgraf Obituary

Edward Albert Landgraf, Jr., of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on November 17th due to complications from cancer. He was 74 years old. Born in Baltimore on October 31st, 1951, Ed was the son of the late Edward Landgraf, Sr. and the late Dolores Landgraf, both of Baltimore. "Big Ed" was a devoted husband, father, and family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Landgraf; his sons, Edward Landgraf, III and his wife Kimberly, Matthew Landgraf and his wife McKenzie; and three cherished grandchildren-Samuel, Ainsley, and Catalina-who brought him endless joy and pride. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Sturm, and her husband Barry Sturm. Before retiring in 2000, Ed had a long and successful career in management at UPS. After retirement, Ed and Barb bought a vacation home in Ocean City, MD and also rented a house each winter in Bradenton, Florida. They spent many happy times together in both locations. A recurring theme in Ed's life was his remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went. He maintained a close-knit group of lifelong friends from high school and his career, and he also formed many cherished friendships within the neighborhoods of Ocean City, Florida, and Mount Airy. A true Baltimore sports loyalist, Ed was an avid Ravens and Orioles fan, and truly enjoyed watching his three grandchildren compete in their own sporting events. Ed had a deep love for food and knew how to savor life-especially when it came to grilling thick steaks, picking crabs, or enjoying an ice-cold beer. Whether gathered around a grill, a bushel of crabs, a large vat of soup, or a table full of friends, Ed found happiness in sharing good meals, cold beer, and good company. He was also an avid hunter, and earlier in life he enjoyed golfing, boating, and swimming in his pool with family and friends. Ed's sense of humor and welcoming nature made him unforgettable to all who knew him. His kindness and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed but forever remembered. May he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ed (15?) years ago as he and Barbara vacationed here in Bradenton, Fla. We spent many memorable hours talking and just hanging out. I came to look forward to their visit every year, and I would call him to tell him he was "running late" on getting here. I think he got a kick out of me scolding him. I feel I have lost a good friend, a great man, and he was just fun to be around. He and Barbara were just a "top-shelf" couple. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Barbara and the whole family. I will truly miss his presence and his laughter. This was a wonderful tribute to a man well deserving of it. Godspeed, my friend, and rest in peace. Steve Walker, Bradenton, FL.

Thoughts and prayers to Barbara and his family. Ed was truly a great guy. I will have many great memories to think back upon with him from both work and golfing. I can't remember a single time I ever spent with him that somehow I didn't end up belly laughing about something. It was impossible to not have a good time when you were with him. Godspeed my friend, you will be missed

On behalf of the Townes of Nantucket III community in North Ocean City I extend our heartfelt condolences to Barb and her family. I didn't know Ed as well as others in our community but I do remember him as a very friendly person with an easy going smile. And, I have heard many stories about his appetite for good food and drink. He will be missed.

This is an absolutely beautiful tribute to a very wonderful man. Ed always had a smile for everyone - we have known Ed and Barb for many many years from the beach. Ed and my husband Jack always love sharing a beer or two or three. I am sure Jack was standing at the pearly gates when Ed arrived holding Ed`s two beers. Ed truly will be missed.

I spent a lot of time with Ed during our careers at UPS and well into retirement. Playing golf with Ed was always an "Experience" Ed wasn't as concerned with his golf score as he was with how many laughs he would have, how many beers he would drink and how many golf balls he would end up losing > RIP
