Dear Annie,
Thanks for sending this. It was so good to chat tonight, to hear your voice and know you will be OK. As you said, how fortunate that we were all together last summer. Each time I visit our "wheel," I touch Ed's ROCK from the North and send cheery thoughts up your way. Looking back on our times together this past decade, I treasure our visits to MN and your Thanksgiving visits down here. You are a strong woman, dear cousin, and you will become even stronger. I'll see you in '09!

Dear Marianne, Having just returned from out of state I have now heard of Ed's death. I am so saddened to hear this news. The last time I talked to Ed was at Joanie Haughs funeral a year ago in June. Our Linwood class has always been close, and it was a comfort to have him there to talk to about her. It's difficult to imagine not having Ed among us. My sympathy to you and your family for your tremendous loss.

It's been a quarter of a century since Ed and I last talked...but I have thought of him often. His cheery outlook and great personality stays with you. Condolences to his family.

Sending my sympathies. I have not seen Ed since I left Wells Fargo but have fond memories of those days. Ed was a big part of those happy days!

I have known Ed for only five years. I am a better person for having known him. The last time I saw him was over lunch last month.

How Ed loved life. I loved our talks following his trips abroad when he would share with me stories from his travels. My best memory of Ed will be of a trip we took together. My one and only trip to Mount Rushmore was with Ed and others on a business meeting in South Dakota, we took a side trip that was truly memorable. When you were with Ed it was impossible to be in a bad mood. His humor and spirit were infectious.

He was a pioneer in the Twin Cities financial community, being one of the very first of a thousand professionals in the state who now hold the coveted Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He loved the investment business for the good that it could do for others. He was a part of those good works and was an inspiration to countless others in the investment management profession.

Most of all he loved his family. You could not talk to Ed for more than a few minutes without him making some reference to Anne, his children, his grandchildren. You were a part of every day of his life and never far from his thoughts. I will miss him.

We mourn the loss of a close friend, but we look forward to sharing with Anne many of the memories of their wonderful fifty years together, and of the wonderful friendship the four of us enjoyed.

I never met anyone as consistently happy as Ed. What a great role model. I am so glad I knew him.

It's been a number of years since I last saw Ed, but I'll always remember his cheerfulness and good humor. It was a joy to know him and to be a shirt-tail relative was a privilege. Whenever he and Anne would enter a room it would light up. I'll remember all the wonderful Thanksgivings we had in your home. My sincerest condolences. May he rest in peace.

To Anne, David, and Todd,

Ed was known as a loving father, a great friend, and a significant male role model to me and the neighborhood kids growing up. We knew we could go to him and talk about anything and he would be keenly interested in what we were doing. My words alone cannot sufficiently express my sympathies for you at this time.
