Edward Lofton Obituary

Edward Ray Lofton, 80 passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on October 12, 1945, Edward lived a life marked by courage, service and deep devotion to family and country.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Edward served with honor and distinction. Throughout his 22-year career in the United States Air Force, he was stationed at bases across the country, including North Dakota, Arizona, Nebraska and Montana. He rose to the rank of Major, earning the respect of peers and superiors alike for his leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to those under his command.
Edward will be remembered for his steady presence, generous spirit, and the love he held for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he embodied.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Big Lofton, his sister, Margie Towsley and his niece Missy Wilson.
He is survived by family members who will forever honor his memory. His wife, Shirlene Lofton, son Coyt Lofton, daughter-in-law, Kristi Lofton, daughter and son-in-law, Rachelle and Michael Cox, his four grandchildren, Summer, Logan, Colton and Kylie and his great-grandchild, Brynnley, his sister, Gwen Lofton, his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Sonny Truitt, his sister and brother-in-law , Judy and Bernie Tompkins, his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Dean Wilson, his brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Janet Lofton, nephews and nieces, Chris and Anne Lofton, Troy Nelson, Rodney and Shay Nelson, Brandi Wilson, Chuck Hancock, Brent and Jenny Tompkins and Melanie Spears, as well as many great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Duddlesten Funeral Home, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at Duddlesten Funeral Home on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Lyford Evergreen Cemetery in Lyford with military honors presented by the American Legion, Post 390 from Raymondville.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Duddlesten Funeral Home, 604 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, Texas.

So sorry to hear of Butch´s passing! He was a great mentor to me. He was a great leader and his troopers really liked and respected him. He was so dedicated to his family! He made he world a better place. Condolences to Shirlene, Rachelle and Coyt on your tremendous loss. God bless you!
