Edward A. Marciniec, 87, of Monroe Township passed away peacefully, on Friday, July 15, 2022 at the Summer Hill Rehab Center in Old Bridge.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey, Ed was raised in nearby Wallington, where as a boy, he served as an altar boy in the Polish church. Immediately upon graduation from high school, Ed joined the United States Air Force. He served during the Korean War era as an airplane mechanic. After his military service, he worked as an Expeditor for Revlon in Edison for 30 years before retiring. In 1977, he moved from Wallington to Monroe Township.
Ed was an avid collector of Hess trucks, Wade miniatures, and, through his association with the Air Force, model airplanes and airplane magazines of which he collected hundreds. Until her passing in 2020, Ed loved to dance and to travel with his beloved wife of 40 years, Elizabeth (Bess). He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Spotswood. He was "Grandpa Ed" to his 4 beloved grandsons and 7 great-grandchildren.
Ed was predeceased by his wife, Bess; his father, Jan and mother, Karolina; sister Rose and brother Joe. He is survived by his brother Bruno Marciniec of Georgetown, DE and 3 step-daughters, Betsy Pajauis and husband, Bob; Kathy Bank and husband, Irv; and Sarah Olesky and husband, Michael, of whom Ed was especially fond. He leaves his much loved grandsons, Rob Pajauis; Jeremy, Joshua and Jacob Bank; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emmett, Nolan, Aiden, Ava, Asher, and Charley Elizabeth Bank as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 29th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, on Saturday, July 30th, followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring the memory of both Ed and Bess may be made to the Middlesex College Scholarship Foundation.
