My sisters, Diane and Danna, and I wish to express our sincerest condolences and at the same time celebration of your loved one for a life well lived! Like many parents of our generation, my parents also started out marriage with the task of making a living and finding their way, especially as children came along. They had a focus that is priceless; to be exemplary parents as ell as spiritual leaders to their own family as well as others. When my parents experienced a life changing event, the burning of our farm home, they moved to Lubbock to try to start over. A generous community donated enough money for them to make a down payment on a house in Lubbock, and this is where your beloved father comes into play in our lives. My mother had always been a farm wife, but due to my dad suffering a heart attack and not well enough to farm, especially after losing the house, she sought employment to help with house payments and living expenses. She was hired as a receptionist at the Offices of T G & Y. My dad was hired to haul gravel by a company building the loop. Because of understanding employers, my parents were able to start a life totally different from the one they had on the farm for the previous 20 years. Mother came home many days telling my father how much she enjoyed the atmosphere at work; she was impressed with considerate and respectful supervisors, Mr. McBride being at the top of her list. Over the next several years, she spoke of what a wonderful work atmosphere it was and the respect shown to office as well as warehouse employees. When my dad passed away in 1977 with a second heart attack, the office staff, with Mr. McBride's encouragement and leadership, was of invaluable support and help. We "girls" will never forget the thoughtfulness and love extended to our mother. As years passed, contact with your family diminished as we all moved to to other places and lives. I have loved seeing you, Sharla, at various classmate events through the years! You were always a reflection of the loving way you were raised. We were indeed blessed to grow up with the Christain spirit of nurturing parents. The way you attend to them is a reflection of that. I want to sincerely thank you and your parents for their dedication to people in all walks of life, in all situations. That is exactly what our Lord Jesus wants for our walk on this earth to be like. Rest assured your father is now a resident in the Kingdom of God. Please give our love to your dear mother and the rest of your family.
