Edward A. "Mitch" Mitchem, 60, of Tremont, passed away Saturday morning, February 28, 2026 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Pottsville, Wednesday, June 30, 1965, a son of the late Oscar Mitchem and Elaine Kreiser Kopenitz. He was a 1983 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School.

Mitch proudly served in the United States Navy for 10 years.

Before becoming ill, Mitch was a truck driver, working for numerous trucking companies, including Tribe Transportation.

He was a volunteer firefighter, belonging to the Donaldson and North End Fire Companies. Mitch was also a member of the Brookside Gun Club.

He enjoyed being in the outdoors, whether it would be hunting, fishing, or riding his dirt bike and four wheeler. In his younger years, he enjoyed being on a softball league and was a coach for Little Dutchmen Football. Mitch was also very handy and a talented mechanic.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jessica Shuey Mitchem; a daughter, Morgan Rowland; four sons, Michael Mitchem, Jarod Shuey, Mason Mitchem, and Devan Mitchem; five grandchildren, Tatum, Elizabeth, and Alayna Mitchem, and Harper and Trenton Rowland; a brother, Gordon Mitchem.
