Edward Mundie Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simons Funeral Home, Inc. on Jul. 30, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of Edward R. Mundie (age 73), a beloved family member and friend. Born to Edward T. and Ethel M. Mundie, he was preceded in death by his dear parents who instilled in him the values of kindness and compassion that he carried throughout his life.
Ed was a cherished and devoted husband to Christine (Munsch) Mundie for 48 beautiful years of marriage. Chris and Ed lived by the words, "Always and forever." Their love story was one for the books. Together, they built a warm and loving home filled with laughter, joy, and memories to last beyond a lifetime.
As a proud "girl dad," he took immense pride in his daughters, Shannon Martin (Brian) and Erin Kozy (John). He was their biggest supporter, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams while providing unwavering love and guidance. His role as a father was one of the most significant aspects of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with his daughters and sons in law.
His legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren: Holland, Blair, and Rowan Kozy. He embraced the title of "Pop Pop" with enthusiasm, showering them with love and affection while creating countless treasured memories together. His playful spirit will be remembered fondly. Ed also enjoyed the role of faithful companion to his many grand-pets.
Ed was also a loving brother to Scott T. Mundie (the late Joyce), as well as a caring brother-in-law to Jim and Nancy Weixel, Tony and Carol Tedesco. He held meaningful connections with his nieces and nephews, often taking on the role of the fun uncle who brought joy to family gatherings.
One of Ed's most remarkable qualities was his gift for making friends wherever he went. He had an uncanny ability to connect with people from all walks of life, never forgetting a name or a face. Ed always made time to engage with others, sharing stories and laughter that created lasting bonds. His friendships were very meaningful to him. He will be missed dearly by many special friends and neighbors who were blessed to know him both in Pittsburgh and his favorite getaway, Conneaut Lake.
Ed was a faith filled man who lived life to the fullest, embracing every moment with enthusiasm and joy. His zest for life was evident in everything he did-from his travel adventures to his quiet evenings spent bird watching with Chris in their backyard. He had an innate ability to find beauty in the simplest things, whether it was a stunning sunset, perfectly cooked meal or his favorite music. His interests were as diverse as they were numerous.
As we remember Ed today, let us celebrate the incredible person he was-a man who lived authentically, loved deeply, and inspired countless others through his kindness and generosity. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him. Ed was a charitable person and held inclusivity close to his heart. Friends will be received on Thursday & Friday from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at Simons Funeral Home, Inc., 7720 Perry Hwy, Pgh, PA 15237 where a Blessing Service will be held on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock.
