Edward Allen Norlin, 79, of Dickinson, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson. In accordance with Ed’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Ed was born on March 3, 1945 in Nisland, South Dakota, the son of Victor and Minnie (Lopez) Norlin. He grew up in Newell, South Dakota, graduating from Newell High School in 1963. He attended one year of college at Ellendale before he moved to Sidney, Montana to work. It was here where he met Jo Ann Akers and the two were married on June 18, 1966. As a married couple, they made their home in Sidney, MT for several years before moving to Terry, MT. While in Terry, Ed managed Buffalo Rapids Irrigation District. In 1985, Ed and Jo Ann moved to Powell, WY where Ed managed the Shoshone Irrigation District. After retiring from the irrigation district, Ed worked for Fremont Motor Company, where he found joy in his work alongside his Fremont family. Powell was their home until 2022, when they moved to Dickinson, ND to be closer to family.

Ed enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and watching all sports. He loved to follow his kid’s activities. He made friends easily with his kind heart and warm smile, no one was a stranger for long around Ed. His favorite role was being “Papa” to his wonderful grandchildren. Ed loved dogs and they loved him right back. He will be remembered as a kind gentle giant, a true gentleman, and a great friend.

Ed is survived by his wife Jo Ann; son, Brian (Stan) Norlin of Billings, MT; daughter, Kimberly (Jeremy) Easum of Dickinson; grandchildren, Jillian (Dawson) Bechtold of Bismarck, Will Easum, and Olivia Easum of Dickinson; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends and bridge partners, Travis and Darlene Reyman of Terry, Montana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Minnie Norlin, brothers, Larry Norlin and Dean Norlin; and sister Vicky Klein;
