Ed Nowlin, age 76, died at home on February 13 following a long and arduous battle. Born in Pensacola, Florida June 23, 1949 to Robert S. and Constance Nowlin, Ed was a graduate of Livingston University (now University of West Alabama). With a degree in Accounting, he began his career in the offices of Lapeyrouse Grain Corporation. He quickly realized that office work was not for him and transferred to Walnut Hill as Manager of Escambia Grain Corporation with people and work that he loved. He retired from Escambia Grain in June 2010. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcia; two children, Jeri (James) and Jeffrey (Carol); four grandchildren, Caleb, Levi, Maggie and Carter Shaffer, his greatest joy. He is also survived by a brother, Robert (Linda) and sisters, Bobbie Jean Marcus, Connie Burchum (Mike), and Ruth (Roger) Aubrey, and Sister-in-law, Kathy Nowlin, as well as twelve nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dick and James (Pancho) and nephew Robert.

Ed served for many years on the Board of Directors for the Florida Farm Bureau. A member of Wilde Lake Church, he began a ministry to serve meals to the homeless, engaging a committed team who provided hot meals to encampments around the Pensacola area. His generosity and his heart for serving others was boundless.

A celebration of Ed's life will be held at Wilde Lake Church, 2800 Wilde Lake Blvd. Pensacola on Saturday, February 21st with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. and service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Wilde Lake Church Food Pantry.
