My name is Darlene Rhinehart, my son Ashton & I volunteered for Rooms at the End at Christ Church when Ashton was 9 & 10, I cooked & served many homeless, Mr. Ed never missed a beat he would drive the church bus to downtown Nashville & pick up the homeless in to Christ Church in addition he always opened the gates to Christ Church Memorial Gardens early am. Mr. Ed was one in a million, for whatever reason i´v been thinking of him & recently found out of his passing, my heart is broken, he ALWAYS had a smile on his face with a joke or so to follow. I´ve never known in my life a person with such a servants heart. Rest in Peace Mr. Ed I know exactly where you are Darlene Rhinehart

My daughters and I met Ed when we were attending Christ Church in Nashville. 2001? 2002? He was the first person we met in the parking lot and he gave us a tour of the church, got us to our classes and walked us to our car when we left the church. He "volunteered us" to work in the Room in the Inn Ministry. = ) It was one of the best experiences of our lives. Heather came out of her shell and Miss Dorothy was one of her favorites out of all the women that showed up every week. We worked alongside Cody, Ms Jerry, Bob, Mama Verma, Andria, Gayle and Ed (and many other volunteers) until the church discontinued the ministry. I can't think of a ministry Ed didn't volunteer for at the church. He was always giving of his time, his energy and his love to anyone in need. You will be missed, friend.

My father was deeply loved and he loved deeply. He was the kind of person who would make people smile whenever he went into a room. When I was young, he taught me the important lesson of giving to others. We fed the homeless, brought coffee to metro police, gave rides to people who needed them. He was a dependable giving man. The world is going to be a little less bright without him in it.

Ed and I were friends for several years in the Nashville Amateur Radio Club. In the years that he served as club president, Ed was very active and always went above and beyond in every aspect he could. I admired him for that leadership. I also ran into him often at the airport after coming home from a business trip and we would enjoy late night chats on the bus. I'll remember him fondly and extend my deepest condolences.

I met Ed while working for Bellsouth/AT&T he was the Area Rep for local CWA 3808. I took some classes with him at the local union hall and that´s when we became friends and he mentored me into becoming a Union steward. Ed was one of a kind, a great teacher, friend and comedian. My prayers are with his family and may Ed RIP.
