Edward S. Nycz

1934 - 2025

Edward S. Nycz, 90, of Natrona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at his home. He was born Sept. 22, 1934, in East Franklin Township, to the late Frank and Salamaja (Platek) Nycz. Ed proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. His working career started at Pullman Standard in Butler, and he retired from Haskells in Oakmont, where he worked as a shearman. Ed was a member of Guardian Angels Parish Natrona Heights Campus and was a member of the former St. Joseph Church in Natrona. His other memberships include the P.N.A. in Natrona, American Legion Post 48 in Natrona, and the Outdoor Life Lodge in Fawn Township. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, games of chance, polka music, and working on puzzles. Ed is survived by his sons, Edward (Bonnie) Nycz, of Allegheny Township, Stanley (Kathy) Nycz, of Natrona and Mark (Annette) Nycz, of Natrona; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Borowski) Nycz, on Nov. 2, 2012; daughter, Michele D. Nycz, on Nov. 17, 2000; brothers, Frank and Walter Nycz; and by his sisters, Casimira Kovalchick, Domicela Pawloski, Sophie Ewanish, Hedwig Pawloski, and Leona Guzak. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a parting prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m., on Friday, May 23, 2025. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m, in Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, Transfiguration R.C. Church, Russellton. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township.
