In Loving Memory of Edward Philips
Edward Philips passed away peacefully at home, after a two-week anniversary trip to celebrate 63 interesting years with his sweetheart Patricia. His gentle departure marked the close of a life filled with kindness, warmth, and not so quiet strength.
Born and raised with strong family values, Edward was a devoted husband to his beloved spouse, Patricia, and proud father to his children, Edith, Michael, Cynthia (Mary McGowan), Elizabeth (Mark), John (Deanna), Deborah, Kathryn, Mary, Ruth and Christine. He cherished his role as a grandfather to fourteen wonderful grandchildren, Logan, Hope, Kolt, Kimberlyn, Kailey, Courtney, David Jr., Ian, Kody, Megan, Riley, Scarlett, Evelyn and Brendan, and two great-grand babies, Amelia and Aria who brought endless joy to his later years. Although Ed didn't get to see his sister, Pamela Richards (Larry), and her family as much as he wanted, he was a loving brother, uncle and great- uncle to many.
Ed was a good ole boy who enjoyed feeding and fiercely protecting the birds from the neighborhood cats. You could always find Ed working outside, watching romance movies, preparing lessons for his primary class and traveling in their trailer with his sweetheart. Anyone who was lucky enough to hear one of his many "Ed Talks" knows Ed was very passionate about his family, friends and neighborhood activities. Ed instilled all of his children with a good work ethic, family values and compassion for others.
He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of compassion that will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. While his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit remains with us.
A viewing will be held Monday, November 10th, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints located at 6000 Kachina St NW. Albuquerque, NM 87120, followed by a service at noon. A graveside dedication at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107 will be held at 2:00 p.m.
To honor Edward's life and in accordance with his wishes, the family asks that you celebrate his memory by spending time with loved ones and embracing the peace he valued so dearly, in lieu of flowers.
