Mr. Edward "ED" Poff

EDWARD “ED� POFF FAYETTEVILLE – Edward Allen “Ed� Poff, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 at home. Born on February 14, 1919, at Boomer, WV, he was the son of the late William Edward and Zella Ann McKinney Poff. Mr. Poff was a member of the Bell Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church, Dixie. He was a retired mix unloader at Union Carbide, Alloy, and retired in 1972. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Estel Poff; and four sisters, Edith Ammons, Rae Underwood, Violet Bartustic, and Edith Bess. Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Nadine M. Poff of Fayetteville; two sons, Allen R. Poff of Gauley Bridge, and Joseph D. Poff of Fayetteville; one sister, Nancy Jeffries of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren, Edward Allen Poff II, Rachelle L. Legg, Jennifer Ishman, Tony Hoot, and Brenda Hoot; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Lee Holliday officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral (1:30 – 2:30 PM) on Wednesday at the funeral home.
