Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spencer Funeral Home - East Hampton on Oct. 14, 2025.
Edward Michael Rauza, 80 years of age, passed into his eternal home in heaven on 10/11/25, following a courageous battle of two years of health issues and eventually Lymphoma. Ed was a real trooper and fighter through it all. He leaves behind his loving, and much-loved wife, Marjorie (Bolles) Rauza. Ed leaves behind his Son Michael Rauza, and Daughter-in-law Arlene (Dionne) Rauza of Somers, CT, and his Grandson and great source of pride, Gavin Rauza.
Ed was born to John Rauza and Helen (Zbyk) Rauza, (later Stero). Ed was a Christian, born and raised Catholic. He was an alter boy at St. Joseph's Church in Rockville, CT. Through childhood he attended St Joseph's Catholic School in Rockville and graduated from Rockville High School. Ed served our country in the Army National Guard. The youngest of four children, he leaves behind his brother Robert (Martha) Rauza of St. Augustine, FL. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Dorothy (Frank) Slisz (later Pacetti), and Marian (Timothy) Jones (later Cobb). Ed has numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews who he loved.
Ed had many jobs beginning from the early age of 15. These include the Boston Bakery in Rockville, CT working for Louis Walinski, Clyde's Chevrolet in Rockville working for Brad Gill, Hamilton Standard where he worked on NASA Astronaut Gear and Suits, and Northeast Utilities (NU) as a Designer/Drafter in Berlin, CT and at Connecticut Yankee Nuclear Power Plant in Haddam Neck, CT. Ed retired from NU in 1999 and held many contractor positions beyond that time. Ed has many dear friends and would often mention how lucky he had been to work with such great folks through his entire working years. When Ed and Margie married on November 3, 1995, Ed gained another loving family. Ed leaves behind Margie's sisters Marcia Craddock, Melanie (Rich) Jump, and Mildred (Eric) Heath, along with their children and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Margie's parents Thomas & Jean Bolles who welcomed Ed into the family unconditionally and with great love. Ed adored them.
Ed enjoyed photography, old car shows, fall fair going, watching fireworks on the 4th of July, and quiet times with Margie. Ed had two favorite vacation locations which he introduced to Margie. These were St. Austine, FL and Cape Ann, MA. Together they enjoyed many happy times in these locations and more recently in Maine. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Friday October 17th from 10AM until 12PM. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon with the Rev.
