Edward S. Rog, 83 of Chenango Forks, New York past away peacefully on February 20, 2025 with his loving family by his side at Wilson Memorial Hospital. Ed is survived and will be missed by his wife Carol Rog. Ed and Carol were married 50+ years. His son Mark B. Rog and Mark's wife Melissa Foster-Rog. Ed was a loving husband and devoted father. He never missed any of Mark's baseball games when Mark was younger. He is also survived by his sister Connie Lou Shramek (Ed loved Connie's cooking), nephew Nicholas Shramek and 1st cousin Donna Filip. Ed will be dearly missed by workers of his farm, neighbors, friends and his dogs Abe, Molly and Panda. Ed was predeceased by his father Joseph Rog and mother Ann Rog. Ed was born in West Virginia on June 3, 1941. He attended Chenango Valley High School where he was an amazing athlete. His athletic skills earned him a full scholarship. Ed graduated from the University of Maryland with a Master's Degree in Education. Ed was a devoted educator for the Johnson City, School District teaching physical education at Harry L. Johnson and Lincoln Elementary for over 25 years. He was an inspiration to his students. Any one who attended J.C. in 70's, 80's, 90's remembers Mr. Rog the gym teacher. Ed enjoyed spending summers on the "River" at his cottage in the Thousand Islands. He created many unforgettable memories there with his beloved wife Carol and son Mark. Eds hobbies and interest defined who he was. He was a volunteer fireman for Chenango Forks Fire Department for 25 years, a huge fan of all sports but mostly football and baseball. He loved watching the Yankees and enjoyed building things in his woodshop. He was a hard-working farmer, loved his hobby farm, hunting and fishing. Ed was a humble man and did not like drawing attention to himself. All are welcome to join us for Visitation at Barber Memorial Home 428 Main Street Johnson City on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 4-6pm. At Ed's request there will be no burial services.
On February 20, 2025, Edward Stevenson Rog departed from this earthly world to be reunited with his Mother & Father other members of his family to be with the LORD. Ed was born in Gary, WV in 1941. In 1956 his parents decided to move to Binghamton, NY along with Ed & his sister, Connie (Rog) Shramek for more opportunities. Ed attended Chenango Valley HS, graduated in 1959 & won a 4-year Athletic Scholarship to the University of College Park, Maryland. There he met his future wife, Carol Schneider. Ed graduated in 1964 & married Carol in 1965. They moved to Chenango Forks, NY & bought a large piece of land & built their Home & Barn where they raised farm animals & MORGAN show horses which won many Blue Ribbons. They had three hardworking dedicated farm hands that helped Ed for many years. In 1975 they had a son Mark. After Finishing College, Ed received a teaching opportunity at Johnson City Schools & retired after 30 Years. Ed also was a volunteer fireman in Chenango Forks. He is survived by Carol Rog (wife), Mark B, Rog (Son), Connie Shramek (Sister), Nikkolas J. Shramek (Nephew), Donna (Danuta) Filip (1st Cousin). Ed was a caring, loving person & will be greatly missed. Ed's last wishes was to be cremated. There is a memorial viewing at Barber Memorial Home 428 Main Street Johnson City, NY on Thursday February 27 from 4-6 PM To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Edward, please visit our floral store.
