Edward "Ed" Michael Roy, 67, of
Hudson, Iowa, formally of Wichita, Kansas, took his own life on March 1, 2023, after struggling with mental health issues.
When not struggling himself Ed was a kind and generous person. Even in his final moments, Ed was able to donate his tissue's as a tissue donor and help save others lives, demonstrating just how much he loved others.
Following Ed's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no public services held through the funeral home. A private family service will take place in Wichita at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed in Ed's name to his family which will later be designated to Black Hawk County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Ed was born October 11, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas. He was the son of George and Hazel (Riley) Roy.
Ed loved watching sports of all kinds. His favorite teams were the Kansas State Wildcats, the Wichita Shockers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Ed enjoyed spending time at the Hudson Public Library. The staff helped him gather facts of interest to him and of course, the box score statistics of important games.
Ed is survived by Larry Roy (Pat East) from
Garwin, Iowa and George Roy II (Margaret) from
Spring, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Suzanne.
The family would like to thank the Waterloo Fire Rescue and the Allen Hospital surgical staff for their valiant efforts.
