Edward J. Sawicz Jr.

Edward Joseph Sawicz Jr. passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2025. He was only 56 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.

He grew up and lived in Woodlawn most of his life. Ed worked for years in retail management. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved building and fixing things. He was always there to help anyone out.

Edward is survived and missed by his loving daughter Shianne Sawicz, his father Edward Sawicz Sr, brother David (Beth) Sawicz, sister Sandra Sawicz. His memory will be cherished by his nephews and niece; Michael R Sawicz, Madelynn (Nik) Malachowski, Jacob Sawicz, Cameron Sawicz and his two great nieces that adored him, Mila and Remi Sawicz.

He was also known as a stepfather to his daughter’s siblings, Godfather & Santa Claus to his great nieces.

Edward was predeceased by his mother, Shirley Sawicz, and his brother Michael F Sawicz.

His greatest joy in his life was his daughter. He just attended her college graduation and couldn’t be prouder of her. They shared a special kind of love for everything Marvel, him mostly Deadpool and Iron Man. They also shared the love of Yankee baseball. They went to several games together over the years. His sense of humor was enormous and his ability to remember even the smallest details was insane.

Ed will be greatly missed. Gone too soon. We will love you forever.

A visitation will be held on Sunday June 1st from 2pm-4pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd Colonie NY. 

Interment will be private.
