Edward Charles Schwind, Sr., 87, passed away on August 6, 2023 at Crestview Skilled Nursing. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Edward was born on June 21, 1936 in Breckenridge, Texas to Joseph Francis Schwind Jr. and Mary Rose Klug. He grew up in Breckenridge, Texas and attended Texas Tech University where he pursued his passion for mechanical engineering.

Throughout his life, Edward touched the lives of countless people with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. He was a godly man, devout Catholic, very intelligent, supportive, loving, and caring individual, and he had a great sense of humor. Whether it was through his wise advice, or acts of selflessness, he made a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

In 1963, he married Sandra Ruth Stephens, and they shared a loving and devoted relationship that stood as a shining example of what true love could be. Together, they raised 5 children: Ruth Ann, Edward, Jr. (Charlie), Sarah, Julia, and Stephen. His dedication to his family was immeasurable, and he took great pride in being a loving husband, father, and later, a cherished grandfather.

Professionally, Edward had a successful career as a mechanical engineer. He was highly regarded for his talents and creations of complex designs for aviation and the oil and gas industry. We remember him for his integrity, leadership, and willingness to help others.

In his free time, Edward enjoyed vacationing, golfing, fishing, also he loved sharing these activities with his family and friends. He was always the first to offer a helping hand and took care of those near to his heart.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Sandra, his children, Ruth Ann Schwind Sullivan, her husband Scott, and children Kaitlyn and Brynne; Edward Charles Schwind Jr., his wife Wendy and daughter Emmalee; Sarah Schwind; Julia Schwind Truss, her husband Jeff, children Natalie, Isaac, and Austin; Stephen Schwind, his wife Ashley and son Dalton.

He is survived by his siblings Julia Vecera, Catherine Meyer, Patricia Rose, Francis Schwind, and Marian Stillman. He will also be dearly missed by his extended family and numerous friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th St. Bryan, TX 77803, a cause that greatly helped and supported Edward’s family.

We will forever cherish the memories we shared with Edward, and his legacy will live on in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.

I received notice last week that my fellow Little League baseball coach was being called HOME. It was a joy and a blessing to know Eddie Schwind and the entire Schwind family. Eddie was a wonderful person to call a friend, a fine example of how a Christian man should conduct himself as a representative to his fellow man, and be the husband and father God Almighty put him on this earth to be. I know everyone will truly miss him, but it was time for God to have another Engineer on his Heavenly staff.
Rest in peace you good and faithful servant.
