I have known of Mr. Swearingen's work and contributions to aviation for years and enjoyed an unusual bond with him. I owned one of the pipe organs that he built. His genius spilled over into everything he touched. I pray for Christ's peace and healing to Mrs. Swearingen and the entire family.

Jan - it has been so long since Senator Rockefeller and I first met Ed and you. He had a dream around the SJ30 that he never gave up on and his enthusiasm and brilliance convinced others around the world. He was more than an engineer - he was a leader, uncompromising and tireless. And, in a world of phonies, he was authentic - the real deal. I'm honored to have known and worked with him and to have shared in his dream. My prayers to you and the family - hope to get to the service.

Janice, I feel your loss and offer my sincere condolences. As Ed's executive assistant for 12 years, he was a fascinating person and enjoyed our many conversations regarding his many aviation related exploits, his many airplane designs, and his passion for his antique cars. I often asked why he did not write his autobiography, it would have been a fascinating book. Up until last year, he only wanted to design his next airplane. Rest in Peace Ed.

Ed Swearingen was a hero to me though I hardly knew him personally. I knew of him through Ed "Mac" McKibben and his chief test pilot Jim Humphries. I flew the Sa-226 as Captain more than 4,000 hours and loved that plane. He was a great aviation pioneer and his planes are a wonderful legacy. The Merlin IIIB is still awesome. I knew Greg Wright as seniors in high school and he told me about the incredible organ he built. So sorry for you loss, but so grateful for him sharing his many gifts in so many ways.

So sad to hear of Ed passing away & Sympathy to his Family during this difficult time.
He was a very talented man in so many ways . It was a great experience working for him over the years building Airplanes plus working on many of his Antiques Cars & traveling with him to Car Shows. He had accomplished so much over his 88 years. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Rarely in life do you get to meet and enjoy being in the presence of true brilliance. It was my honor to work shoulder to shoulder with him on the SJ30. He's probably designing better wings for heaven's angels. I can't keep from crying over the loss of my good friend but take solace in knowing that his work will never be forgotten.

We are saddened to learn of Ed's passing! He served as our Best Man when we were married in 1948. As young couples we spent many fun-filled hours on Ink's Lake. We watched him grow and were proud that we had spent those times together when life was so much simpler. Our deepest condolences to Janice and the family. John and Lottie Millsaps

A great man with a great, creative mind. Please accept our condolences on Ed's passing. My father worked with him in the early years at Howard Aero, and was associated with him in later years through the Merlin program. My father had respect and admiration for Ed.

Mr. Swearingen touched so many lives. I am fortunate to have been employed many years because of his dreams. He pushed us all to be better than we thought we could be. I've been blessed by his influence and he is a part of who I am today.
God bless, Ed. And God bless his family and his extended family.

Janice, I feel your loss. Grandpa Swearing was a great man. He will be missed greatly. I am really sorry that Dad and him did not get to see each other again. We lost Dad in January of this year after his heart transplant. But I can see them designing new planes as I write this. But they have been rejoined together. Again my deepest condolences to you. .
