Edward A. "Ed" Townsend

Shortly after the 9/11 Disaster, Ed and Barbara were in my Restaurant for dinner. Sitting across from them were a family and friends from Joplin here to celebrate a young man leaving for the war. As Ed was leaving, he called my wife to his table and quietly asked her get the ticket for that for group. He wanted to pay. He and Barbara left quietly. That's the Ed that I know.

Barbara, I am so sorry for your loss. Ed was an incredible man in the short time I knew him. I so much have enjoyed our business relationship with the two of you this past year. Always cherish the great memories. He will live on in your heart and be with you always. Condolences, Danny Bundy

I am going to miss Ed when I go to the bank. When I would walk past His door he would motion me to come in. We would sit and visit about how much we have been Blessed and He would share His wisdom with me. He was a brilliant business Man. We would share what God has done for us that week.
He was strong on Faith and Family. I will miss those times when He shared His Wisdom with me always giving credit to Jesus for His success. Will miss You Buddy.

Ed was my client and friend for over 35 years. He had great integrity and intelligence. It was a great privilege and honor to represent him for so many years. I greatly appreciate his loyalty. I will really miss him. All my best to his lovely family . Mike Ford

At our 10th Stratford High School reunion, Barbara kindly introduced me to Ed. From that moment on, I eagerly anticipated seeing them at every subsequent reunion. Ed effortlessly picked up our constructive conversations, as if no time had elapsed. His presence brought me immense comfort and confidence, leaving a lasting impact on me. I admired Ed´s profound respect and deep love for his family. In this world, relationships are all that we have, and Ed will be deeply missed by me.

My Twin Sister worked for Ed for years. I only met him once but, heard her speak of him with so much respect for all those years. She admired his Leadership and skills in banking as well as his very high level of ethics and faith in the Lord in all that he did.

I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing . Ed was not only a great Oklahoma banker, but a true friend whose presence in my life spanned more than 30 years. Over those decades, I came to value his wisdom, integrity, and steady guidance, both professionally and personally. Ed had a way of building trust and friendships that lasted, and he genuinely cared about the people and communities he served. I am grateful for the years we shared and the friendship we built. My heartfelt condolences go out to Barbara, his immediate family and the Bank of Grand Lake organization.

So lucky and blessed to have been a part of Ed and Barbara's world over the last year. Their faith in our Father and joy of living and loving have been such a beautiful example to so many. Truly living out Matthew 5:16. Love to all Ed's girls. See you on the other side, Ed! -jenn

Lost a great man and a good friend.

As Ed's pastor, I was always impressed by his humility in giving God the glory for all of his successes in life. The greatest blessing of his life, after his relationship with Jesus, was his relationship with Barbara. He loved her and considered himself a blessed man to have won her heart and spent his life with her. Many will miss him in many different ways, but his legacy will be felt in much more than dollars and cents. He leaves a legacy of faithfulness to his family, his Lord, his church, his community, and his world. I can't wait to see him again one day. Until then, thank You, Lord, for Ed Townsend.
