I am saddened by Eddie's passing. I so much loved to see him at the races, even if just a quick wave. He and Bentley were amazing to see wrestling with their cars during the early years of the Supers. Rest easy Eddie...Thank-You. Ricky Raducha

Brian, Jodi, Harold and Family, My family and I share in your heartache over the loss of Eddie. It is hard to put into words how important he was to all of us and how much he will be missed. We are blessed to have so many Fond Memories and Great Stories about Eddie throughout the years. Being a longterm Resident, he was truly one of the Cornerstones of Town, nicknamed the "Mayor of Dunstable" by many as he seemed to know EVERYTHING about EVERYBODY. On April 5th my parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary reminiscing about how most of their dates prior to and following that day were spent going to the Speedways to watch Eddie race. How they would be on the road en route to the track and Eddie would blow past them hanging out the window to insure they saw him. How one time when Eddie drove onto the track to do his warm up laps prior to the race he just sat there....my folks were wondering what he was doing but soon his crew came to push 61Jr back to the pit as they forgot to fill his tank with fuel...and how they watched him crash going end over end multiple times in different races, worried he might be badly injured but luckily he always walked out of his car in one piece. Eddie was a Legend in the super modified racing community being one of THE BIG THREE along with Don MacLaren and Ollie Silva that EVERYONE went to see, according to my parents. Those stories never get old, along with those of Eddie and my Dad growing up in Dunstable Back in the Day. Eddie was quick witted and had a great sense of humor....we will all miss him harassing us, affectionately of course, upon crossing paths with him around town. We used to see him everywhere on his Bicycle, one time my Dad spotted him in Hollis center heading towards Pepperell and came right up behind him laying on the horn for a lengthy time laughing > Childhood Friends.. The memories will always make us smile. Our Thoughts and Prayers are with All of You. Ernie, Kathy, Kristen & Garrett Sweet

" One of my favorite memories involving Ed, was a Sunday morning back in the sixties when I watched him "test drive" 61 jr, with Yogi Fahy riding on the crash bar adjusting the distributor on the engine, go right up Rte 113 toward Jack's Esso station. My father, Sgt. Simmons, caught up with him, and asked of Ed just what the hell was going on. With his impish grin, Ed said "I needed gas." My father told him, "Next time, get it in a #@!$ can". Toward the end of Ed's days, I would drop in to his apartment, bring him the paper, then sit and reminisce and chuckle about the old days of Dunstable. I'll miss doing that now, and you too. Rest in Peace Ed.

When I was a kid growing up in Lowell, I was always reading about this guy Eddie West. It seemed like he was winning every race he drove in. Then I moved to Dunstable and met the legend. It was pure joy after that. I especially enjoyed our chats in his waiting room while car was being fixed. He was smart, funny and always inquisitive. Condolences to Brian and Jody and their families. He will surely be missed. Gerry Gray
