Edward Winslow Obituary

Edward Sylvester Winslow 1929- 2025 Edward Sylvester Winslow, 96, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep. Edward's loving wife Jackie of 73 years preceded his death by a week.

Born August 31, 1929, in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, Edward was the son of Eduardo Silvestre Winslow (descendant of the Mayflower) and Maria Teresa Urueta. His family moved to Federal Wyoming in 1942. Ed attended Cheyenne Central High School and graduated in 1947. He married Jackie Ellis on December 28, 1952.

Ed lived in Cheyenne most of his life. He raised four sons and one daughter. He worked for Walton Motors as a salesperson before he got married. He built two careers, one with the Wyoming Air National Guard and the other with Farmers Insurance, working both at the same time. He retired from the ANG in 1981 and from Farmers Insurance in 1994.

He loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Every September he would spend a week in the Bridger Wilderness backpacking with horses to hunt elk. He enjoyed spending time with the family at their cabins in Fox Park and Centennial, Wyoming, where many of their best family memories were made.

Whether it was at his church, where he was a devoted member, the YMCA where he exercised regularly, junior baseball where he was a beloved coach, or simply around the neighborhood, Ed was always the first to step in when someone needed a hand. He was an all-around handyman and a gifted mechanic, often found shoveling snow or making repairs at a neighbor's home. He even bought bicycles from the police department, fixed them up, and gave them to anyone who needed one.

Ed also enjoyed playing golf. basketball and horseshoes with his family and friends. He won several first-place medals in the Cheyenne Senior Games, where golf and basketball were his specialties. In recent years, all those skills transferred to Ed being successful in cornhole at family parties.

Ed is survived by his two brothers Tony Cribeli of Wauneta NE, Frank and his wife Sue Cribeli of Greeley, CO, his five children: a son, Mike Winslow and his wife, Patty, of St. Charles, MO; a son, Patrick Winslow and his wife, Sara, of Ogden, UT; a son, Kelly Winslow and his wife, Christi, of Erie, CO; a daughter, Kathleen Winslow, of Greeley, CO; and a son, Eric Winslow and his wife, Tia, of Douglas, WY.

Also surviving are his 16 grandchildren: Tim Winslow, Hannah Kaufman, Heather Winslow, Nate Winslow, Katie Winslow, Chelsea Dyer, Mariah Irwin, Chloe Winslow, Stephanie Winslow-Sell, Danielle Moore, Kendra Seymour, Levi Blakeslee, Lukas Blakeslee, Rachel Cook, Jack Winslow, and Meadow Winslow.

And his 19 great-grandchildren: Abbi Swanson, Liam Swanson, Edison Swanson, Teddy Swanson, Moonshine Kaufman, Iza Kaufman, Winona Kaufman, Olivia Winslow, Miles Sell, Asher Sell, Brooks Sell, Emery Moore, Oliver Moore, Ellis Seymour, Aldrin Seymour, Hailey Baros, Violette Cook, Charlotte Cook, and Coraline Blakeslee.

Ed never missed an opportunity to show up for his family who he loved so much.

The family will plan a private Celebration of Life at a later date. Cremation is under the care of Wiederspahn Funeral Home.
