Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sullivan Funeral Home - Hanover on May 29, 2024.
Edward Joseph Zalewski, of Hanover, defied odds to the end and passed away peacefully at age 78 with his beloved wife, Theresa, and children by his side. Born on October 8, 1945 in Boston, he was the son of the late Chester J. and Regina A. Zalewski. Ed was a devoted and loving husband to Theresa for 53 years, celebrating their anniversary two days before his passing.
Upon graduation from high school, Ed put himself through college and joined the Army National Guard. He worked in the financial industry, with the majority of his career at Bank of Boston and ending at State Street Bank. Ed and Theresa married on a sunny day and started their married life in Quincy. They moved to Hanover in 1973, where they raised their family and have resided since.
Ed loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He coached many of his son's sports teams and also served as a Cub Scout Pack leader for many years. More recently, he cheered on his grandchildren on the sidelines of many soccer and lacrosse games, swim meets, and from the chilly stands at his grandsons' hockey games.
Ed loved doing yard work and tinkering around his home. He was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed attending Bruins and Red Sox games. Ed enjoyed traveling, going on many ski trips in New Hampshire, and in his latter years enjoying warm days on Cape Cod and in Florida. One of his favorite places to go was Disney World, and recently loved exploring the park with all of his grandchildren.
Ed was the loving father of Edward W. Zalewski and his wife, Gina (Rosano) Zalewski, of
Cohasset, MA; and Stefanie (Zalewski) Desai and her husband, Kapil Desai, of
Darien, CT. He was the cherished grandfather of Julia, Thomas, Benjamin, George and Amelia. He was also brother of Carole (Zalewski) Elliott, of
Danvers, MA, and he was predeceased by his brother, William Zalewski, of
Lexington, MA.
A celebration of life mass will be held on Friday, June 7th, 2024 at 10AM at St. Anthony's Padua Catholic Church, 2 Summer Street,
Cohasset, MA.
