Mr. Barkley was a tough teacher and a good man. I appreciated his kindness, and also appreciated his sympathy as we started dissecting stuff. I remember that my brother's dissected frog looked like art. Mine looked like it had be run through a food processor. Mr. Barkley just kind of smiled. Anyhow, rest in peace Mr. Barkley, and my condolences to the family. We need more people on this earth like you.

Indeed Mr. Barkley was an inspiration to many. I would likely not have gone to college without his strong but gentle encouragement that I should do so. I only had one class from Mr. Barkley, but have always remembered him. They say you remember the teachers who have influenced you the most. He touched many young lives, and through his life made the world a much better place. Rest in peace Mr. Barkley.

Mr. Barkley was a huge influencing factor in my life. His great teaching and love of science is one of the main reasons that I became a nurse. He was a special person. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know that he will be missed.

I am so deeply saddened by the loss of this kind and gentle man. Not only was he my biology teacher, he was also a neighbor of mine for a few years. He was always approachable, and willing to be engaged in just about any conversation, he had a wonderful sense of humor, and he was a patient listener, nodding reassuringly as you spoke and, when needed, he always offered wonderful, sage advice to any willing recipient. He will be greatly missed.
Much love to his family in the wake of this loss. May your hearts find comfort again in remembering him.

Hands down the best teacher I ever had. No other person in my life has influenced me more about science, the search of it, the understanding of it and the love of it. RIP Mr Barkley. Hearing about the passing of Mr. Barkley was very saddening. He was a loving and kind person. As a teacher, he learned of my long walks home after classes and track practice and he often would give me a ride. This allowed me time to do homework and keep to my job at the local fast food establishment so that I could buy a car. He was genuine. He taught me to enjoy science. Even when I struggled. He directed me in many ways into my career as a nurse. He always had a smile. He always encouraged us as young adults learning through our mistakes. I will still stop and think of him often. I will pray for his wife and family until he is seen again. Thank you, Mr. Barkley for your generosity and humanitarianism.
