Edwin Bennett

Born October 8, 1930, peacefully passed away March 1, 2025 at age 94.
Edwin was born in San Francisco, CA to Helen Margaret Doepfner and George Edwin Bennett. He was the 3rd of 5 children (William Bergsma, Gloria, Edwin, Shirley, and David Bennett). Sadly, his father passed away when Edwin was only 17. Edwin attended Stanford University and graduated with a degree in Engineering. He then served in the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant jet fighter pilot (F-86D). His mother passed away when he was 23, while he was serving active duty during the Korean War. He was called home and honorably discharged because of this hardship. He was responsible for settling the affairs of his father's business (Brilliantshine Metal Polish) and the estate. His family also owned a retreat in Johnsville, CA where he loved to fly fish on the Feather River.
Edwin married Augusta "Cissy" Talcott King 1954 and had one son, Mark E. (Lorrie) Bennett; parents of Melodie and Jessica. Edwin and Cissy were divorced and he later married Sandra Wiltse in 1966 and had two children, Kimberly and Kirk. Kimberly (Brad) Hamilton are parents of Kassie, Ethan and Kamryn. Kirk (Marianne) Bennett/Leininger are parents of Benjamin and Wes. Edwin and Sandra later divorced.
Edwin has 4 great grandchildren: Grayson, Benji, Emily and Cove.
He was a gentleman, very gracious and always made his bed. He loved to fly airplanes, fish, go crabbing, deep sea fishing, ski, swim, and play bridge. He was always a people person and had a joke or conundrum for every occasion.
Later in life he met and married Donna Sarale in 1992. They lived in San Ramon, CA, Vancouver WA and Sun City, AZ where Donna passed away in 2017. We then moved dad to Utah where he has lived and thrived at Treeo in Orem. His last month was spent on hospice at the Bennion Veterans Home in Payson.
Thank you to everyone who loved him at Treeo. You people are amazing!!! A big thank you to the Veterans home and the hospice care team and nurses there.

A memorial service for Edwin will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Treeo Senior Living, 250 East Center Street, Orem, Utah. Military Honors will be performed at the Veterans Memorial Park at Pleasant Grove City Cemetery at 2:00 pm before the memorial service.
