Edwin Paul Elder Jr

Edwin Paul Elder, Jr, age 84, of Lebanon, TN, passed away on December 5, 2023. Mr. Elder was born in Chattanooga, TN, to Edwin P. and LaVerne Elder.. He was a graduate of Franklin County High School in Winchester, TN, and attended Tennessee Technical Institute in Cookeville, TN. He was of the Baptist faith. Previously he lived in Crossville, Kingston, Knoxville, Lenoir City, Alcoa, and Estill Springs, TN.
Mr. Elder was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Paul Elder; his mother Nena LaVerne Milwee Elder; sister Judy Laverne Elder Graves, brother-in-law Thomas Clyde Hill, Jr.; and nephew Jerry Lynn Graves. Surviving are his daughters Teresa Lynne Elder (Rick) Knight of Maryville, TN, daughter Paula Renee Elder (Jim) Bussell of Mt. Juliet, TN; granddaughter Jenna Bussell Ward of Lebanon, TN; sister Dottie (R.L.) Powell of Chattanooga, TN; sister Doris Hill (Charlie) Knott of Estill Springs, TN; brother-in-law Jerry Lofton Graves of Shelbyville, TN; nephews Jim Graves, Kevin and Rodney Hill; nieces Nena Powell and Penney Letbetter, as well as several great nephews and nieces.
Mr. Elder was a commercial construction superintendent and manager, retiring from Construction Plus, Inc. Previously he was an owner of Hillman Elder Construction Co., Inc. He also worked for several years with Rentenbach Engineering Co. He also managed several jobs including the building of Thompson Boling Arena, upper deck to U. T. Stadium and several elementary and high schools, plus many other projects at Oak Ridge, TN. He served with the Tennessee Army National Guard in Tullahoma and in Maryville, TN.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Decherd on December 9, 2023, from 1:30 to 2:30, followed by a celebration service with Bro. Chris Noland officiating. Private burial services will be held at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester, Tennessee.
