Edwin Lewis Foushee Jr., 69, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025 at home. Edwin was born October 21, 1955 in Sanford, North Carolina to the late Ed and Frances Foushee.
Edwin earned his Eagle Scout ranking at 17 years old. He graduated from Sanford Central High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from East Carolina University. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity.
Edwin was also an active member of the Sanford Elks Lodge, a member of St. John Lodge #3, the Sudan Temple Shrine in New Bern and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. He delivered Meals on Wheels with his wife through St. Luke.
He was an avid boater and president of the Buffalo Lake Homeowners Association.
Edwin was known for his kind nature, friendship, community service, and love for his family. As Edwin always said, “the main thing is not to get excited” a testament to his calm and joyful demeanor.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Autrey Foushee, his daughters Morgan Foushee Baker (Daniel “Bigshot”) of Sanford, Celia Foushee Miars (Pete) of Wilmington, and his four grandchildren, Bryson Baker (15), Calleigh Baker (12), Virginia Miars (4), and Hayes Miars (2). He is also survived by his siblings Beverly Gunter (Ed), Martha Hunter (Kent), Robin Patterson (Greg), David Foushee (Lisa) and Doris Tobin (Sam), along with several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Edwin’s life will be held in the sanctuary at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sanford, NC on Wednesday March 12th, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Eddie Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
