Edwin Everett Hinshaw

I have very fond memories of Ed. He hired me in 1981 at Sandy Spring Friends School. When interviewing me, Ed asked if I would be comfortable with everyone, including students, calling me by my first name. That was who Ed was - very concerned and considerate of others. Those were great years at Sandy Spring Friends School when Ed was the Head. Thank you for that time.

While neither our professional nor personal paths ever crossed, as a longstanding faculty member, now in my 31st year, at Sandy Spring Friends School (SSFS) in Montgomery County, Maryland, I learned of former SSFS Head of School Ed Hinshaw's important contributions to this community I love from mentors of mine. As a result, it was important to me to express my gratitude and condolences. Thank you for all you gave to Sandy Spring Friends School! We are a better community because of you.
