Candy being his favorite. He was a member of the South Bend School Board for 8 years, as well as an active
member of the First Baptist Church of South Bend, spending years as a deacon. He was active in the Boy Scouts
from his youth and continued to become a Boy Scout Leader for several years.
Ed enjoyed everything outdoors. When he was young, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and still enjoyed driving on
the logging roads with Gloria to enjoy nature. He was an avid birder and amateur weather man, keeping detailed
records of the precipitation and temperature of Eklund Park. He enjoyed sports of all kinds but particularly the
Seattle Mariners, Seahawks and Washington Huskies as well as the local high school sports teams.
