East Providence - Edwin F. Medeiros, affectionately known as Ed to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 96 at the Senator Bob Hooper House, Forest Hill, Maryland. Born on March 25, 1929, in Providence, Rhode Island, Ed was a man whose life was marked by dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and a love for the simple pleasures in life.

Ed was the beloved husband of the late Nellie (Fragala) Medeiros, with whom he shared over 63 years of marriage. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. He was the cherished son of the late Laureano and Mary (Macedo) Medeiros, and a caring brother to the late Norbert Medeiros. His legacy continues through his daughter, Mary Anne Medeiros-White and her husband Michael of Havre De Grace, Maryland, his nephew John Medeiros of Exeter, and his niece Arlene Stryshak.

Ed's role as a patriarch extended to his adoring grandchildren, David MacNeill and his wife Romina, and Rachel Rawlings and her husband Matthew, Jacob White and Zachary White. His joy multiplied with the birth of his great-grandchildren, Madison MacNeill, Lachlan MacNeill, London Porter, Matthew Rawlings, Jr., Rebekah Rawlings, and Keira Rawlings, who all brought him immeasurable happiness.

For over 35 years, Ed was a respected Superintendent in the Painting Department of the Day O Lite Manufacturing. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity and diligence. Ed's professional life was paralleled by his involvement in his community; he was a devoted parishioner of St. Martha's Church and contributed to the fabric of the community in East Providence where he lived for many years before moving to Havre De Grace, Maryland.

A sports enthusiast, Ed's love for the game was only matched by his passion for fishing, which provided him with countless hours of serenity and joy. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through when he became the owner of a TTY Service for the deaf, demonstrating his commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Ed will be remembered as a loving, kind, and handy man, always ready to lend a helping hand or share his expertise. His warm smile and generous spirit were his trademarks, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we bid farewell to Edwin F. Medeiros, we celebrate a life well-lived and honor a man who was the embodiment of love, kindness, and resilience. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he left behind, and his influence will continue to resonate for generations to come.

Ed's journey through life has reached its peaceful conclusion, but the stories of his love, laughter, and wisdom will perpetually resonate with us.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Martha's Church,2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Saturday MORNING from 8:30-9:30am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory, may be made to the Senator Bob Hooper House, 2007 Klein Plaza Drive, Forest Hill, Maryland, 21050.

My husband, Anthony and I were close friends with Ed and his wife, Nellie. They were wonderful people. We often visited and went out with them.
Ed was a man of many personalities, friendly, thoughtful, laughable, serious and full of humor! He was well known to both the Deaf and hearing communities for his work with the TTY. Because of his expertise people went to him for advice as well as teaching them how to operate the TTY.
My heartfelt condolences and prayers! I will missed Ed and our VP calls.
Fondly,
Mary Lomastro

Ed was a great man. I always enjoyed talking with him and remember so many conversations about TTY/TDDs. He was one of the leaders that helped shape so many coming after him. He and Nellie were wonderful people. He had a long life, but no matter how long I know his loss will be felt tremendously. My condolences to you.
