Mr. Edwin Alan "Buddy" Merritt, age 65, of Donalsonville, Ga, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, in Bainbridge, Ga.
Funeral services for Mr. Merritt will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Bob Wally, Mike White, and Marshall Howington officiating. Interment will follow in the Thomas Alan Alday Family Cemetery with Josh Merritt, Ryan Merritt, David Willis, Jonathan Rentz, Leeann Chappell, and Trampus Lambert serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Tomlinson and the Ergon work crew. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at the chapel.
Mr. Merritt was born in Monticello, FL on Jan. 29, 1960, to Edward and Helen Weddle Merritt. He was a plant manager for Ergon Asphalt and loved fishing and trucking. He loved NCIS and Ice Road Trucking, as well as spending time with family and friends. Mr. Merritt was of the Baptist Faith.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Debbie Merritt; his children, Josh Merritt and Jocilyn, Robert Rentz, Jessica Merritt and Davi, and Leeann Chappell; his grandchildren, Jonathan Rentz, Kyliey Merritt, Reid Merritt, and Lincoln Conner. Also surviving are his brother-in-law, Timothy Alday and Rhonda; his sisters, Shirley Bryant and Tony and Rebecca Bichel and Anthony; and his brothers, George Merritt, Charlie Merritt and Tammy, and John Merritt; his adopted sisters, Georgia Bedwell, Nancy Siat and Libby, and Rebeccah Mesa and Trini; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Merritt was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Helen Weddle Merritt; his son-in-law, Brandon Conner; and his sister, Valley Merritt.
