Edwin Charles Minster, 93, a resident of the Portland passed away on November 23, 2025 in the hospital.

Edwin, best known as "Ed" or "Unc", was born on October 15, 1932 in Missoula, Montana. He was one of a twin brother and 2 sisters children born to Fred and Ernia (Kirchmeyer) Minster. He was raised in Missoula and graduated from Missoula High School with the Class of 1950. He was raised by his Aunt Mary.

He met his future wife, Alice Nikolaus, at an engagement party for her brother that he got invited to through Alice's brother Gordon. He was smitten with her right away and it was love at first sight. They soon began dating and they married one year later on April 14, 1956 in Missoula. They moved to Oregon City and made their home there all their lives. Alice passed away on February 20, 2017.

Ed had worked for Clackamas County taxation and assessment office for over 30 years he retired as a Record manager in 1994.

He loved going fishing. He was a master woodworker, making furniture, birdhouses, shoe horns and turning bowls. He was also a huge participant in the Bunk Bed Ministry, helping to build and deliver bunk beds for families in need. He was a very social person who liked to tell stories and listen to people's life experiences. He also became known as "The Cat Man" for his talent of sketching cats in the art room at Willamette View. It became his true legacy as it made so many people happy as he shared them with everyone and hung them up throughout the facility with a new one monthly for all to enjoy. He was such a loving, supportive, sensitive man with the biggest heart. Alice was his everything. Alice and Ed traveled to Canada and Montana to visit family in a yearly basis. They enjoyed going camping and did many trips along the Oregon Coast, Mt Hood and many more with family. They also got to enjoy time together on many beautiful trips to Hawaii and Cruises once they retired. They enjoyed spending time with their nieces and nephews. Family and friends were very important to the both of them.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice, his parents and three siblings.

He is survived by his nephew Jim Nikolaus and his spouse Renae of Banks, his niece Karen and spouse Rob Schmidlin of Banks, and great nieces and nephews Rachel Murry and Bryan Nikolaus, and Victoria and Elizabeth Schmidlin and several others.

Memorial service still yet to be announced.
