Edwin Pollock Obituary

Published by Davis Greenlawn Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries on Jun. 21, 2013.
A memorial service for Edwin James Pollock, 91, of Richmond, Texas will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2013 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Deacon Don Ries will officiate the service. Edwin passed away in Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation in Richmond, Texas on Friday, June 21, 2013 after an extended illness. He was born in Shiner, Texas on December 23, 1921 to John Pollok and Emily Foytik. They lived in Shiner, Texas and then in Tavener, Texas and Richmond, Texas and ended up in Rosenberg, Texas. They farmed and did different jobs. Edwin worked in Freeport before the war, and then was drafted into the service in which he served for 4 year in the Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #271 in Rosenberg after he came home from the service. He worked at Duval Sulphur Company for 23 years and later at Gulf States Tube in Rosenberg. In 1979 he wanted to have his home built in Dime Box, Texas and that is where he settled for 18 years after he married the love of his life, Frances Dovner Kocurek. They built their home and other buildings including a two-story barn. He worked in the field for his friends. He loved driving a tractor, grew a big garden and had many fruit trees. But after 18 years, some health problems arose and they were faced to come back to Fort Bend County where they stayed until the end. But Dime Box was always his favorite place. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Emily Pollock; and siblings, Lydia Pollock, John Pollock, Robert Pollock, Carolyn Oberhoff-Moody, Adolph Pollock, Sophie Jurek and Victor Pollock; sister-in-law, Tracy Pollock; brother-in-law, Edward Ernest and sister-in-law, Ruby Pollock. Edwin is survived by his wife of 33 years, Frances (Dovner) Kocurek Pollock; and sister, Leona Ernest; sisters-in-law, Bernice Pollock and Earline Pollock; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
