Edwin Scott Obituary

Edwin C. Scott, age 85, of Taylor passed away Wednesday after a brief stay in the VA Medical Center. preceded in death by his wife, Grace E. Sweetman Scott. Born in Scranton on January 20, 1924, son of the late Clarence and Gertrude Rosencrans Scott, Edwin was a staff sergeant in the US Army during WWII where he was a recipient of both the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. Prior to his retirement from Fowler and Williams, he was a truck driver with the Local Teamsters #229. He was a member of the Taylor Hose Company No. 1. and the Lackawanna County Fire Police and the American Legion Post 306 of Taylor, A loving father and grandfather who would do anything to help his family and friends, he will be dearly missed. Surviving are his children; his son, Jeff E. Scott and wife Mary Grace of Taylor, and his daughters; Dorene F. Lutkowski and husband Thomas of Taylor and Tammy S. Cornell of Scranton, a brother, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Also preceding in death was a daughter, Sharon Lee Hastings, a granddaughter, Sherri Lynn Monelli, a son-in-law, George Cornell and several siblings. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11AM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, to be conducted by the Rev. Norm Demming, Pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Taylor. Interment, will full military rites by the AmVets Honor Guard will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 5-9PM at the funeral home.

Doreen & Tom,
Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. We will always remember him going up and down the alley on his jazzie. He would always stop to say hello with a great big smile and ask how we were and never complained about himself.
