Edwin Shafer Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edwin Harry Shafer, who left this world peacefully on December 7, 2025, at the age of 94. He was the beloved husband to the late Rosabelle M. (Newhard) Shafer before her passing in 2012.
Born on August 16, 1931, in Easton, PA, Edwin was the son to the late Harry F. and Elma E. (Fehnel) Shafer.
Edwin spent most of his life working at Keystone Snacks and doing auto body work at Merkin Body and Hoist Company, Inc. He loved tinkering around in his garage doing things such as building birdhouses and painting yard ornaments. He enjoyed playing quoits and spending time with his family at picnics and family reunions.
He is survived by his four devoted children, Ricky Shafer and his wife Sherri of Easton, Cinda Young of Tatamy, Linda Jones of Easton, and Lori Dech and her husband Curt of Nazareth; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings: Frederick "Fritz" Shafer and Arlene Finken. Each of them will treasure the memories they shared with him. Edwin was preceded in death by his siblings; Harry Shafer, Carl Shafer, Allan Shafer, Howard Shafer, Larry Shafer, and Mary Jane Ricker.
Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, in the Village of Moorestown - Bath, PA 18014. Friends and Relatives are invited to call on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Arndt's and Messinger Cemetery in Easton. Edwin will remain forever in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness and warmth. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edwin's name may be offered to the Alzheimer's Association.
Due to extenuating health concerns, Level 2 medical masks will be handed out at the door and will be required to be worn throughout the service.
