Edwin S. Stein

Edwin S. Stein, 74, of Lewistown, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Geisinger–Lewistown Hospital. Born on February 1, 1951, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Harry and Lula (Hagans) Stein. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna J. (Grassmyer) Stein, and his siblings, Sandra Murphy, Gary Stein, and Robert Stein. Ed is lovingly survived by his children, Scott Rhodes and Steven Stein and his wife, Jill, all of Lewistown. He was a proud grandfather to Brittany Yoder and her husband, Travis; Zach Rhodes and his companion, Jaylena Schmidt; Kody Stein and his wife, Taylor Fultz; Alan Rhodes and his companion, Aria Zanghi; and Caitlin and Blake Miller. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, as well as his siblings, Harry Stein and his spouse, Gloria; William Stein; and Roseann Richards and her husband, Tommy, all of Lewistown. Ed dedicated 44 years of faithful service to Standard Steel, retiring in 2013. A Christian by faith, he found great joy in the outdoors through hunting and fishing, expressed creativity through woodworking, and held a lifelong passion for dirt track racing. In his earlier years, Ed was a talented sprint car driver who traveled throughout the country competing, a pursuit that remained close to his heart as a devoted racing fan.
