Edwin Whiteman

Edwin Dean Whiteman Sr. (V`kés`toha) age 68 of Lame Deer was called to the other side of the camp on October 25th of 2022 at 12:27 a.m. He was born on December 27th of 1953, in crow agency, adopted to Phillip Whiteman Sr. and Gladys Fisher, Florence Whiteman would later step. Edwin attended high school in Busby and later went to job core. He later went to Mormon placement program for a year in Rexburg, Idaho. Edwin worked for 20 plus years for the Lame Deer School. Edwin enjoyed working with his horses, being knowledgeable about Northern Cheyenne culture, singing at pow-pows but he especially enjoyed teasing friends and family. Edwin is survived by his companion, Margerie Whiteman, and his children: Edwin Whiteman Jr., Teeka American Horse, Meska Whiteman, Ron Whiteman, Darren Whiteman, Elisha Bigback, Marvet Oldman & Judith Whiteman. His 9 siblings: Lorraine Waters (Tom Rollefson), Jolene Walkslast, Florence Whiteman, Charlene Alden, Phillene Whiteman, Phillip Whiteman, Joseph Waters, Nelly Whiteshield, & Abraham Spotted Elk Jr. Edwin was born and raised on the Northern Cheyenne reservation. His heart was growing up he loved riding and breaking horses and participating in Little Bighorn Ride. Edwin was taught by his father Phillip Whiteman Sr. the Cheyenne values of respect. Edwin had many friends and family that he cared for and looked after, he was a paralegal, prosecutor, as well as a security guard for Lame Deer School. His grandkids: Dornie, Dameka, Darren, Delores, Deeka, Issac, Anfernee, precious, Larita, Sienna, Michael (cheney), Kiara, Kiana, Alice, Alecia, Eldin, Hillary, and Justine, Donovan, Ace, and Lee Redbird (Vallie). Special Niece: Kathy Vallie.
