Edwina Calhoun Whitlow was born in Minden on January 15, 1955, and went to her heavenly home on January 22, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Mary Calhoun, her brother, Edward Calhoun, and her cousin, Sandra Sparkman.

Edwina worked in accounting for over 40 years, first serving as the bookkeeper for Shuler’s Dixie Dandy for over 25 years and later managing the accounting for the Shreveport Mudbugs. She enjoyed spending her free time loving on her grandchildren and working in her yard, even becoming a Master Gardener. Edwina was a member of the First Baptist Church of Minden for over 40 years and attended Sunday school there until she was no longer able to due to the progression of her Alzheimer’s disease. 

She is survived by her loving husband, David Whitlow, her son Spencer Smith (wife Bethany) of Ruston, her daughter Sara Rouse of New Orleans, her step-daughter, Tara Smith (husband Trey) of Ruston, and her grandchildren, Alyssa, Mallory, Noah, Adalyn, and Avery. 

Visitation will be at Rose-Neath on Saturday, January 25th from 5:00-7:00pm. Services will held at First Baptist Chapel in Minden on Sunday, January 26th at 1:00pm, and burial will follow at Minden Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Carnahan, Lance Carnahan, Noah Smith, Mike Spillers, Mark Gibson, and Gene Sparkman.

The family would like to thank the staff at Willow Ridge in Arcadia and Passages Hospice for their care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s.
