Effie B. Kelley of Salem, Va., passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026. She was born July 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Horatio and Almeda Beard. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" O. Kelley; sisters, Dollie Garma, Bessie McDow, Clyde Elizabeth Hankins, Clara Dudley, Agnes Sloan; brothers, Willie Beard, and Harvey Beard.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Kelley; sisters-in-law, Betty Akers and Joyce Kelley.
Effie was a member of Big Spring Baptist Church and worked at Eaton Corp in Salem for many years. She was a wonderful woman, a great wife, sister, and mother. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
The family wished to express its thanks for the support provided by her special caregiver, Jeanette "Daisy" Alexander-Gadry. As well as extended family, Judithanne Anderson and Hang Nguyen.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Lotz Funeral Home, East Salem Chapel. The funeral service will be at White Memorial United Methodist Church on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 2 p.m. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com

I knew Mrs Kelley for many years at Eaton-Yale in Salem and went to high school with her daughter Wanda, sorry to learn of her passing.
