On the morning of May 15th, the Lord called home Effra Greer McElrath, 64, where she died at her home in Milan, TN.
Effra was born Nov. 3, 1959, in Milan, TN to W.C. and Alma Joe Greer.
As a young girl, she joined Bluff Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined Deliverance House of Prayer and returned to Bluff Spring where she was an active member for many years.
Effra graduated from Milan High School in 1978 and was a member of the Milan Bulldogs Marching Band. She remained close with her classmates over the years where they shared fond memories and laughs over meals.
Effra married Steve McElrath and from this union they raised two sons: Tyrus and Douglas McElrath. Effra loved her sons beyond words and supported them throughout their adulthood.
Effra worked for many years for Milan Shirt Factory, Humboldt Veterans' Home, and was presently working at Tyson Foods in Humboldt, TN where she was set to retire in November on her 65th birthday.
She was a loving grandmother and aunt who enjoyed cooking, dancing, listening to gospel music, traveling with her special friend, and fellowshipping with her family at family gatherings.
She was proceeded in death by her father and mother, W.C. and Alma Joe Greer; grandparents: Joe and Birdie Hale Williamson and Henry and Alma Greer; her brothers: Marshal Michael Greer; Milan, TN, William David Greer; Milan, TN and James Earnest Greer; Milan, TN; and a grandson, Tyrus McElrath Jr.
She is survived by her loving sister and brother, Deborah (Thomas) Kirby, Toledo, Ohio and Dwight Greer, Milan, TN; her grandchildren: Tyreke Cole, Yahzarriah McElrath, Kinsley McElrath, and Ar'Monie McElrath; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
