Eileen L Brahce

Eileen L. (nee Farnsworth) Brahce, 95, formerly of Kent, died Friday, July 19, 2024, at Brecon Village Retirement Community in Saline, Michigan.
Eileen was born March 16, 1929, to Reed Alexander and Anna (Klein) Farnsworth. She grew up on a small farm near Solon, Iowa, graduated from Solon High School in 1947, attended nursing school at the State University of Iowa and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1950. She worked as a nurse in Iowa, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio; most of her nursing career was spent in the newborn nursery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kent.
Eileen is survived by her sons Mark Brahce (Janice Pappas) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Paul Brahce of Madison, Wisconsin, and Carl R. (Diane) Brahce of Cedar Park, Texas, as well as 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl I. Brahce (2015), and sons Aaron Brahce (2004) and Joel Brahce (2016), brothers Robert Zeman (2014), Paul Farnsworth (2015), and Ernest Zeman (2017).
Eileen was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In her mid-twenties, Eileen put her nursing career on hold to concentrate on raising her five sons. She was a warm, attentive and involved mother, sewing clothing and special Halloween costumes for them and serving as Cub Scout den mother. Eileen taught her sons to be kind, thoughtful and responsible boys and she encouraged their many interests, from baseball to insect collecting. Once the youngest was in school full time, Eileen went back to work afternoons, three nights a week, and put her sons through college.
A private graveside service will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. An open house to celebrate Eileen's life and share memories will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 522 Beryl Drive in Kent from 2:30PM to 4:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that gifts in memory of Eileen be sent to The University of Iowa School of Nursing in Iowa City, Iowa. (www.nursing.uiowa.org)
