Eileen Prendergast Callaghan

Eileen Callaghan nee Prendergast passed away on December 20, 2025, at the age of 92. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her death.

Eileen was born in County Mayo, Ireland to Walter and Kate Prendergast. She immigrated to Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1961, where she met and married Vincent Callaghan, who was also from Ireland. Together they shared fifty-three wonderful years of marriage and raised three daughters, of whom they were very proud. Eileen worked as a preschool teacher at the Children's Center of Lexington and was loved by children and staff there. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, traveling, and spending time with family.

In 2006, Eileen and Vincent moved to Roswell, Georgia, after having lived in Medford and Reading Massachusetts for 48 years. They shared many happy years living in the Crabapple Orchards community in Roswell. In 2022, Eileen entered the Georgian Lakeside Assisted Living and Memory care facility where she enjoyed the excellent care provided by the staff.

Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Vincent in 2016. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Marie and Drew Gant of Roswell, Georgia, Tricia and Mark Mullins of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tara and Brian Carr of Calabasas, California. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Ryan Gant and his wife Hannah Mulhausen, Erin Gant Munns and her husband Matthew Munns, Sean Gant, Siobhan Mullins, and Liam Mullins. She is preceded in death by all ten of her siblings and their spouses.

Eileen will always be remembered for her tireless work ethic, steadfast determination, thoughtful generosity, and seemingly endless energy level. She brought enthusiasm and a buoyant attitude to any situation. Eileen was loved by many and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. We take solace in knowing that she is with Vincent, her parents, siblings, and many other loved ones once again.

A small service for family and close friends will be held at Northside Chapel in Roswell on December 23rd at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the National The Parkinson's Foundation or the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
