Eileen Ruby DeMond

Eileen Ruby DeMond, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, April 3, 2025, after having dementia and had a stroke on March 10, 2025, while residing at Grace Assisted Living Memory Care in Meridian, Idaho. Eileen was born on October 14, 1929 to Walter and Erna (Teubner) Walko in Denton, Georgia. She met Francis LeRoy DeMond while he was posted at Moody Air Force Base and they were married on October 28, 1951. They made their home in Victorville, California where he was stationed. They were married for 66 years and had four children. They had moved around Idaho but eventually settled back into Meridian. She was head cook for the Ustick Elementary School for many years before retiring. She loved traveling and camping throughout the years. In her later years she enjoyed baking cookies for everyone and especially enjoyed making them for the neighbor kids and Boy Scouts as payment for mowing her yard. They enjoyed them immensely!
Eileen is survived by the twins Walter (Terri) DeMond and William "Willie" (Genevra) DeMond, several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and in-laws as well as her brother George Walko, sister Jane Yale, husband Francis LeRoy (October 29, 2017), son Kenneth (September 8, 2024, daughter Patricia Calkins (February 26, 2021), and two grandsons Gerald Lutz and Eldon Lutz.
A special thank you goes to Grace Assisted Memory Care for taking care of "Sweet Eileen" for the 10 months that she was there; also, to All Care Hospice for their care and to Dr. Amanda Draper.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens in Meridian, Idaho. All are welcome to attend.
