Eileen Flaherty Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sibling, aunt, and friend, Eileen E. Flaherty, (January 21, 1939 - September 11, 2025).

Eileen passed away on September 11th, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Eileen was born in London during World War II but returned to Donegal, Ireland, with her mother and brother, Pat, after the tragic and untimely death of their father. She spent her childhood in the Irish countryside overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with her beloved Granny, her mother Evelyn, her brother Pat, and countless aunts and uncles, before welcoming four more siblings, Ann, Michael, Stephen, and Frankie into her life. She met her husband, Noel Flaherty, in Dublin in the late 1950s, and together they built a life in America. Noel’s two sisters, Marie Robinson and Rita O’Gorman, soon followed with their families.

Eileen was a pillar of strength for all of her family as well as an endless source of wisdom. She always knew the right thing to say to keep everyone grounded. She was dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren above all else. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing many prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and her daughter Siobhan’s wedding dress. Her hobbies were endless. If she wasn’t in her garden, she was sewing or knitting. She worked until she was nearly 80 years old and instilled that same work ethic in her children. Always ready for an adventure, she traveled the world and loved dancing the night away at her grandchildren’s weddings, appletini in hand!

Eileen is predeceased by her husband, Noel Flaherty; her parents, Evelyn Dorrian O’Donnell and Patrick Dorrian; her granddaughter, Brooke Cassidy Krupa; her great-granddaughter, Noelle Siobhan Krupa; and her grandson, Brian Thomas Flaherty. She is survived by her 4 children, Patricia Cain (Scott Cain), Brian A. Flaherty (Mary Flaherty), Eileen Wilson (Wayne Wilson), and Siobhan Cassidy (Sean Cassidy); her grandchildren, Caroline O’Neal (Justin O´Neal), Steven Cain (Tina Cain), Kevin Flaherty (Jillian Flaherty),Daniel Flaherty (Briana Flaherty), Brittany Dougher (James Dougher), Kyle Wilson (Brenna Wilson), Timothy Wilson (Juliet Milillo), Ashley Russell (Douglas Russell), Sean J. Cassidy (Courtney Burger), Jack Cassidy, and Morgan Cassidy; her great-grandchildren, Francesca Flaherty, Addison Dougher, Jameson Dougher, Daniel Flaherty Jr., Harper Russell, Isla Wilson, Brian P. Flaherty, Easton Dougher and Hallie Russell. She is also survived by her siblings, Ann Stanley, Michael O´Donnell, Stephen O´Donnell and Frankie O´Donnell. She is also survived by countless nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
