Eileen F. Hoerst (nee McDonald) passed away on January 27, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Mark. Loving mother of Lauren Patterson (Kevin) and Stephanie Hoerst. Cherished Mom-Mom to Liam Maccari, Lucy Patterson, David Patterson, and Joseph Patterson. Dear sister of Anne Marie Carnation. Eileen was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Eileen devoted more than 30 years of her life to St. Katherine of Siena School, where she was a beloved member of the faculty and a cherished third-grade teacher. In that role, she played a special part in preparing countless students for their First Holy Communion, nurturing not only their education but also their faith. Even after retiring in 2016, Eileen’s dedication to her school family never waned—she returned to SKS to run the school lunch program, a true testament to her selfless spirit and love for the community she served.
Above all else, Eileen treasured time spent with her grandchildren. She loved taking day trips with them, whether it was heading down the shore or visiting Johnson’s Family Farm in Medford, New Jersey. Eileen also found great joy in music and could often be found listening to her favorites, including Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and David Bowie.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, February 6, 2026, at St. Katherine of Siena Church (9700 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114) from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass. Interment will be private.
