Eileen Horning Obituary

Eileen Horning

Eileen Horning, 83, passed away on January 27, 2026, at Bonaventure of Albany. Born in New York, she moved to Oregon to attend and graduate from Pacific University, eventually settling in Corvallis for over 50 years.

Eileen worked in her adopted hometown as a librarian at the public library, a hospice aide, and a special education aide at schools throughout the local school district before enjoying many years of retirement with friends, family, and loved ones. She was a scholarship athlete who ascended Mount Hood, finished the Trail's End Marathon, and pitched for many years on a city league softball team. Throughout her life she enjoyed playing several instruments at summer camp, the community band, and other places. Her love of music and the performing arts was passed on and endures as a part of her legacy.

Eileen is survived by two sons and her grandchildren and was preceded in death by her daughter.

In lieu of flowers, the ARC (thearc.org) and the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) support causes that were close to her heart.

A celebration of life will be held at Bonaventure of Albany on Sunday, February 22, at 10 a.m.

I used to cut Eileen's hair in Corvallis some time ago.Eileen could sense I had been through things in life. She had this ability to be a warm and caring soul. Full of love and light. She believed in me and always told me to believe in myself. I'll never forget the look in her eyes as she would talk with me. Eileen was a healing light and I am forever grateful I knew her in the short season. She truly is an angel. Thank you. As she would say..... Fly high Eileen... Until I see you again.
