To Eileen's Family,
Please accept my condolences which would have come from her friend, my Mother, June Martel, but my Mom pre-deceased Eileen by about three years. I came across a Thanks for your Sympathy card from when my Dad passed away which my Mom never mailed. It had a stamp, but no address. I found it yesterday, and looked up a possible Obituary for Eileen before mailing it. My Mother wrote in the card by hand, "Dear Eileen, Thank you for your friendship. June." The card itself says, "Your thoughts, your words, your kind expression of sympathy are greatly appreciated. In honor of Eileen, it was a Hallmark card. I read her obituary. My Mom made sure I learned the basics of Horseback riding beginning at age 9. Where I grew up in what used to be called East Detroit, my Mom once told me that it used to be a Golf Course! based on a local store called Fairway, and the location of 10 Mile and Kelly Road, I imagine that must have been Eileen's Father's Golf course! My Mother helped to organize their Denby 50th Class Reunion for their class at Denby High School. I know that my Mother, June Martel, really enjoyed having Eileen as a friend. She had a great devotion to their "Denby Girls" Luncheons at local Restaurants, often Waves on Jefferson. I remember that she told me once about their Denby Girls group, "It's getting smaller." On my Mother's headstone one of the four phrases we agreed to add was "Friend to many." I knew that Eileen Irish was one of my Mother's dear friends from Denby, so I wanted to honor Eileen with a greeting to her family and my own condolences as well. May Eileen rest in the peace of Christ. -Cathy Martel

Lynn, I'm so sorry to learn of your moms passing. I saw the open house today and was saddened to see it was your moms place.
I always admired your mom not only for her soft spoken, classy, wonderful self but also for her love of dogs.
Your mom was loved by many and I'm so happy to have known her.
