Eileen Pontes Obituary
Eileen Pontes was born on 5/1/1930 in Modesto and raised in Hughson, CA. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on 12/12/2025 at the age of 95.
She is survived by her husband Anthony, three children, David (Lisa), Janet (Victor) and James, six grandchildren, Jeanine (Travis), Kristen (Dustin), Jessica (Ryan), Brian (Eliana), Sarah (Antonio) and Erin (Michael), and 16 great-grandchildren.
Eileen and Anthony met at a Gustine dance. Anthony says she was wearing a red dress, and he remembers she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. They were married on 5/1/1955 and have been blessed with 70 happy years of marriage.
Eileen was a homemaker and helped Anthony on their dairy farm. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a part of the Mother's Guild and PTA. She helped found the Sacred Heart Thrift Shop that is still running today. Her children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren attend Sacred Heart School. She was involved in the Women's Auxiliary Legion and a life member of the VFW. Eileen was a very talented seamstress. She spent countless hours making clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, canning and reading. She loved to go camping with friends and family. She was always ready to go fishing and hunting. Eileen loved playing cards and traveling. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Eileen had a beautiful smile, and always a kind word. She saw the good in those around her. In later years she loved attending sporting, 4-H and FFA activities of her grandchildren and never missed an event. She was a wonderful spouse, mother and grandma.
She will be greatly missed but we will all hold her close to our hearts and treasure the beautiful memories she has created with us all.
The family suggests donations be made in Eileen's memory to Sacred Heart School, 1225 Cooper Ave., Turlock, CA 95380.
