Elaine F. Bennett (nee Merkle), 85, passed away Monday, November 14 at her home, surrounded by family. Elaine was the loving wife of James; Caring Mother of Terri Kasik (Scott) and Traci Capone; Cherished grandmother of Laura Kasik (Nick Windler), Danielle Burgund (Greg), Robin Collins (Edward), Randi Capone (Ben Craner), and Dominic Capone; Dear great-grandmother of Jack Windler, Ava Burgund, Gavin Burgund and Jolene Windler; Daughter of the late William and Leah (nee Kirk); Aunt, Cousin and friend to many.
Elaine lived a full life. She loved being around people, crossing paths with many over the years whether it was from working as a merchandiser for Gibson Greeting cards, being a Girl Scout Troop Leader, coaching girls' softball, participating in bowling leagues, attending SCCA race car events where she loved working the starting grid, and travelling to car shows with her husband Jim. Nothing meant more to Elaine than family, either immediate or extended. She adored her 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Getting together and keeping up with cousins, friends and family was very important to her. Elaine touched many lives over the years with her loving ways and generosity and will be greatly missed, but certainly not forgotten. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the charity or organization of their choice.
